John Munro is a seasoned hospitality executive based on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, with more than four decades of leadership in resort operations. Since joining The Sea Pines Resort in 1998 as director of lodging, he has advanced to senior leadership, ultimately overseeing sales, marketing, and lodging for one of the region’s best-known destinations. In this capacity, he has managed teams of more than 100 professionals across multiple departments, including lodging, vacation rentals, and food and beverage.
Drawing on a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from Purdue University, Mr. Munro has directed a multimillion-dollar annual marketing budget and helped guide more than $100 million in capital improvements at the resort. His work has supported Sea Pines’ reputation as a premier coastal destination and contributed to consistent growth in revenue, occupancy, and guest satisfaction.
Beyond his operational responsibilities, Mr. Munro is deeply involved in advancing the hospitality profession. He has been recognized as South Carolina Hotelier of the Year and has served as president and board member of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association. In addition, he has contributed five years of board service to the American Hotel & Lodging Association, helping shape industry standards and advocacy at the national level.
